North Extension Project
Project Overview
Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America LLC (Natural) is developing the North Extension Project to expand natural gas transportation capacity along its Gulf Coast Mainline by up to 210,000 dekatherms per day and also extend its system into southern Wisconsin. To facilitate the Project, Natural will lease certain capacity on Horizon Gas Pipeline Company, L.L.C.’s (“Horizon”) system.
The approximately $438 million project (KM-share approximately $170 million) will enable Natural to provide 185,000 Dth/day of incremental firm transportation service to the Project shipper. Natural and Horizon are preparing to file a joint application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in the third quarter of 2026 to seek requisite authority under Sections 7(c) and 7(b) of the Natural Gas Act. With the timely receipt of all required permits and approvals, Natural expects the Project to be placed in service in the fourth quarter of 2028.
