SUPERVISOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Step 1 - Answer these questions before communicating to the employee(s) that they must immediately test.
- Is employee available to test? - Verify your employee is available for testing.
- Is employee on leave? - If an employee is on leave of absence greater than 30 days, notify Jennifer Fowler at Jennifer_Fowler@kindermorgan.com.
- Where will they test? - Find a PTC approved collection site online at https://access.pipelinetesting.com/all/collsitesearch.aspx.
- Can they test at that collection site? - Call the collection site for any special requirements (i.e. appointments, hours of operation, etc.)
Step 2 - Test Immediately; give NO notice.
- Employee MUST test IMMEDIATELY - Once the employee is told to test, they MUST leave immediately for the collection site.
- NO EXCEPTIONS. Let your HR Rep know if they do not leave immediately.
- NO advance notice of the test should be given to the employee.
- Provide employee the:
- completed collection site forms required below,
- the collection site location and appointment (if applicable),
- appropriate drug test kit (DOT (and alcohol form if applicable) or NON-DOT).
- Instruct the employee that they must:
- call you immediately if there are any concerns or questions.
- return a copy of the drug and alcohol chain of custody form as proof of their test.

Step 3 - Complete these two forms, provide them to your employee AND the appropriate drug kit.
- Candidate/Employee Drug and Alcohol Testing Instructions
- Informs employee they must not leave the collection site until collector states test is complete and can leave the site. Leaving the collection site without the collector's consent will be considered a refusal to test and employee termination.
- Complete the form with your contact information and your HR Representative.
- PTC Drug Programs. Compliance Form. (Identifies the pool type, test type and test reason.)
DRUG KIT
Step 4 - Provide the employee the appropriate drug kit.
- PHMSA Test - Use a DOT Drug Kit
- FMCSA Test - Use a DOT Drug Kit (and if applicable, an alcohol test form)
- Non-DOT Test - Use a Non-DOT Drug Kit

What should I do if an employee refuses to take a test due to a concern for their saftey?
- Call your HR Representative immediately to discuss the issue. If the employee is already at the collection site, they should stay at the site. Leaving the site could be treated as a refusal.
- Remind the employee to stay at the site. Leaving the site could be treated as a refusal to test.
- Call the collection site and discuss the employee's concern with the site representative. Ask what actions can be taken to alleviate the issue.
- Call your HR Representative to report the employee's concerns.
- Under no circumstance should the employee leave the collection site until the collector says the employee can leave.
