North Main Line Relocation Project
Southern Natural Gas (SNG) plans to relocate approximately 3.5 miles of its existing 22" North Main Line, 24" North Main Loop Line and 24" 2nd North Main Line, and approximately .4 miles of its 20" Calera Branch Line in Jefferson County, Alabama. SNG is relocating its lines to protect them from the subsidence that will result from longwall coal mining operations that are planned to begin underneath the current location. SNG plans to relocate the three North Main Lines north of the planned mining operations and the Calera Branch line will be relocated east of the planned mining operations. The mining underneath SNG's existing North Main System is scheduled to begin in September 2016.
