2010 Highlights
- President Ian Anderson and Chief Kim Baird of B.C.'s Tsawwassen First Nation participated in a leadership exchange program facilitated by the Industry Council for Aboriginal Business in partnership with the Learning Strategies Group at Simon Fraser University.
- In recognition of its environmental stewardship on the Anchor Loop project, Kinder Morgan Canada (KMC) was honoured with an Emerald Award in the business category at the 19th Emerald Award ceremony held in June in Calgary, Alberta.
- KMC held an open house at its Burnaby terminal on June 26, 2010. It was a great opportunity for KMC, neighbours and those interested in KMC operations to exchange information.
- KMC Calgary employees participated in the Commuter Challenge week (May 31 to June 4, 2010), which encourages Canadians to walk, cycle, take transit, carpool or tele-work instead of driving to work alone. During the event, KMC raised $900 for the Alberta Wilderness Association, and won several awards including the most greenhouse gases saved.
- KMC employees raised more than $30,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in the stationary bike ride that took place in Calgary in September.
- KMC engaged community partners in a Stoney Creek community school eco-education and stream restoration project in Burnaby, B.C. This project is a tribute in memory of a longtime Stoney Creek stream keeper.
- KMC participated in the Great Salmon Send-off and salmon release in Eagle Creek in Burnaby, B.C., a fish release at a fish pen at the Westridge marine terminal and the environmental fair in Jasper, Alberta.
- In November 2010, KMC employees raised over $1,000 for Prostate Cancer Research in the Movember growing-of-the-moustache campaign.
- KMC has always had a high level of employee participation in the annual United Way fundraiser. In 2010, KMC employees in Calgary, Burnaby and Edmonton together raised more than $81,000. KMC Calgary and KMC Burnaby each won a Spirits of Gold award, which recognizes companies that achieve 75 percent participation in their pledge drive and average $65 per donor gift.
- In 2010, the Kinder Morgan Foundation contributed $70,500 to Canadian charitable organizations and schools.
