Steven J. Keanis Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Office of the Chairman, and President of the Natural Gas Pipelines group of Kinder Morgan, one of the largest pipeline transportation and energy storage companies in North America. The Kinder Morgan companies include Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. (NYSE: KMP), Kinder Morgan Management, LLC (NYSE: KMR) and Kinder Morgan, Inc, a private entity. Mr. Kean’s responsibilities include overseeing the natural gas pipelines business and coordinating Kinder Morgan’s efforts to achieve operational excellence. He joined Kinder Morgan in 2002 as Vice President of Strategic Planning of the Natural Gas Pipeline group. He was named President of the Texas Intrastate Pipeline Group that same year, became Executive Vice President, Operations, and joined the Office of the Chairman in 2005, was named Chief Operating Officer in 2006 and President of Natural Gas Pipeline in 2008. Mr. Kean has worked in the energy industry since 1985 in various legal, regulatory and commercial positions, primarily in the wholesale energy and pipeline sectors. Before joining Kinder Morgan, he worked for Enron, Utilicorp and El Paso Natural Gas. He holds a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University and a law degree from the University of Iowa.
Kinder Morgan owns an interest in or operates approximately 37,000 miles of pipelines that transport primarily natural gas, refined petroleum products, CO2 and crude oil; and over 170 terminals that store, transfer and handle such products as gasoline, ethanol, coal, petroleum coke and steel. Kinder Morgan owns the general partner interest of KMP, the largest publicly traded pipeline limited partnership in the United States with an enterprise value of over $25 billion. KMR is a limited liability company and its only significant assets are the partnership units it owns in KMP. |
